Hearing check

Sit somewhere quiet. Put both earbuds in. Set your phone volume to about half and leave it there. This takes about 2 minutes and sets the sliders to fit each ear. It is not a medical test.

Beeps come in short bursts with a pause after each — tap during the beeps or the pause, no rush. It plays the same loudness once more to double-check, so tap again when you hear it repeat.

Voice and Clarity = where speech lives — turn these up if people sound mumbly. Crisp = sharp sounds like S and T (turn down if it’s harsh or hissy).

Evening-out

Boosts quiet sounds and softens loud ones, so quiet talkers get easier to hear. Too high can make everything sound flat.

Set the loudest the app is ever allowed to go. Turn it up until it’s as loud as she would ever want, then stop.
